Anambra Guber: Over 10,000 youth, others canvass for AA candidate, shutdown Awka capital territory

Over ten thousand youth, women and adults residents in Anambra State, Tuesday, held a road show and street to street rally in solidarity with the gubernatorial candidate of Action Alliance (AA) in the forthcoming poll, Ọzọ Jeff Nweke.

The mammoth crowd, who toured Awka, Nibo, Mbaukwu, Amawbia and Umuokpu jubilating and singing solidarity songs in different vehicles and the party's campaign materials, expressed readiness to vote massively for Nweke on Saturday.

They also urged Anambra residents to come out en-masse and vote for AA standard flag bearer, expressing confidence that his regime as governor would bring the needed change and development Anambra State deserves.

Speaking at the occasion, one of the campaigners, Mr Praise Okoye, described Nweke as the only fearless, experienced and committed professional who could transform the State without fear or favour.

Also speaking, Miss Mmesoma Cornelius said she was confident in the AA candidate because he has consistently empowered the masses, offered scholarship and other interventions across the State even when he is not yet on power.

Other supporters, who equally spoke highly of Jeff Nweke, said they would not just come out and vote but ensure that their votes counts as already assured the masses.

Addressing the populace, the governorship candidate, Ozo Jeff Nweke, said he was amazed at the rate people loved and supported him in the campaign and would recopricate immediately he takes over by investing in people oriented policies and programmes.

"You people have amazed me. I am grateful for the massive support. You have proven that we genuinely desire change. You're convinced I’ll represent you well. I’ll speak your language and lead you with a human face.

With you by my side, I am confident that I will win the election. INEC will declare me winner. As the only Nigga in the race, I will be committed to driving people agenda. My government will be very transparent and inclusive. My courage, carriage, connection and grassroot orientation stand me out. I will stand by you.

Nweke further dounced the fear of insecurity or violence on election day, assuring the masses that their votes would count, and there would be no violence.

The security agencies and the INEC have taken Care of the processes. I don’t expect anything that will disrupt the process. We expect security personnel to live up to expectations. No stone should be left unturned to ensure a free, fair and credible election — especially under the new INEC chairman who has promised that Anambra’s poll will be the freest and fairest in Nigeria’s history.

" Ours, the candidates, is to be committed to the peace accord we have signed. Election is not a do or die affair. We must accept the outcome of the poll and continue contributing to the development of Anambra State at the end," he added.
