INEC Director of ICT emerges President General of Anambra community

The Director, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Chief Pius Nwankwo, has emerged as the new President General (PG), Enugwu-Agidi community, Njikoka Local Government Area (LGA), Anambra State.
Nwankwo polled a total of 1698 votes to defeat an incumbent, Mr Chukwuebuka Onuorah, who sought reelection but managed to score 294 votes at Enugwu-Agidi Brotherly Union (EBU-NIGERIA) poll held on Monday.
The electoral committee Chairman, Mr Martin Nnoli Okoye, who announced the final results, said that a total of 2012 votes were cast but 20 invalid votes were recorded.
According to him, the newly elected Secretary General is Mr Okoye Chinedu; Mr Ementa Emeka, Vice President, among other persons, and their tenure would elapse in the next three years.
In an acceptance speech, the new PG, Chief Nwankwo extended a hand of fellowship to other contestants to forge a common ground for socio-economic development of the community.
In their separate speeches, observers of the poll led by Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. TonyCollins Nwabunwanne and the Chairman, Njikoka LGA, Hon. Chinedu Ononiba commended the community for their peaceful conduct and appealed for their support to the new executive to bring lasting peace and development.
Also speaking, a stakeholder from the community, Prince Chinedu Ikeanyi commended the State governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo for creating a friendly environment for a peaceful community election and urged the newly elected officials to lead in humility and in line with the constitution of the community.
