GDP, infrastructure development are nothing if Anambra residents feel no positive impact, AA candidate

The Action Alliance (AA) governorship candidate for Anambra State November 8 poll, Ozo Jeff Nweke, on Sunday, urged people to become more concerned with direct impact of government policies and programmes than listening to their rhetorics.

Nweke, who stated this at Thanksgiving service and interaction with the members of Hear the Word of God by Fire International, Nkwelle branch, Awka, argued that infrastructural development and growing the Gloss Domestic Product (GDP) were good only when the populace feel the impact.

According to him, Anambra needs more of government projects that would directly enable them to excel in their various fields of endeavours and those projects should include security of lives and property currently elusive.

He, therefore, urged Christians to obtain their voters cards and vote according to their conscience because that was only way they would support in driving good governance and democracy.

AA gubernatorial candidate also condemned the act of vote buying, even as he urged voters never to solicit or collect monetary and other gifts from contestants for the forthcoming poll as that could make them not to work effectively upon election.

“You cannot claim to support any candidate if you do not have a voter’s card. Being unregistered means you will not be part of those who will install populist governance in Anambra State. While you attend rallies and listen to politicians, please make sure to register and collect your voter’s card. That is your tool as a law-abiding citizen and an eligible voter,”

"We are here for thanksgiving but I must tell you that during this election period, politicians will go around campaigning, and some voters will expect to receive ₦1 million each and return home happy. But let me tell you, that kind of happiness is fleeting — it doesn’t last.

“The money you collect today determines the share of basic infrastructure you will forfeit. By accepting it, you’ve traded your social security. You lose the moral ground to hold politicians accountable for failing to provide good road networks, healthcare, and quality education.”

“As we take our campaigns before Almighty God, let us pray not just for good leaders, but for voters who will reject money politics and vote-buying, and instead support leaders who will bring genuine improvement to people’s lives,” he added.

He reiterated his calls on other candidates to refrain from using derogatory languages against other contestants as it would according to him, diminish others image and impact negatively on election of quality leader.

He also questioned the claims for increasing the GDP and infrastructural development, noting that they would make more impact on society when the residents were directly impacted on them.

“A government may build good roads, but if such projects do not improve the lives of the people, it is a waste,” he said.

Earlier, the pastor of the church, Apostle Steve Chibueze, prayed God to grant Nweke’s desires and political aspirations as he has proven to be His son.
