YPP will run Anambra State 24 hours economy unlike Soludo's 8 hours style, Okagbue

The Deputy Governorship candidate of the Young Progressive Party, YPP, Hon. Uzu Okagbue, on Tuesday, assured Anambra State residents that their government, if voted to power on November 8 poll, would run a 24 hours based economy capable of transforming the State holistically.

Okagbue, who stated this in a statement, argued that the biggest threat to the hope of development in Anambra State was that the State could not attain development while running an 8-hour economy as presently seen under governor Chukwuma Soludo.

According to him, under Soludo who is seeking reelection under All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), the economy suffocate for being run from 9 am to about 5 pm daily which seemed to be contrary to the expected dimension in any part of the world.

"The world has swiftly moved to a 24-hour economy which is why payment systems now run all day, nonstop, so that business operations are not interrupted by artificial roadblocks. Unfortunately, the road is still far because the state is trapped in all manner of insecurity which has not only completely deleted one full day from the original six active business days but has also reduced effective business hours to a paltry 8 hours.

"The people can no longer start their days early enough and can also no longer retire late because of the fear of the unknown. No country, and indeed, no society can develop by running an 8-hour economy in just five days. Anambra cannot be the exception,” Uzu Okagbue said.

Insecurity in Anambra State has since been an item of popular concern in Anambra state, as Governor Soludo’s administration struggles to respond with Udogachi security operatives, which so far, has not proved to be particularly effective.
