As Anambra State 2025 gubernatorial poll draws nearer, loyalists and supporters of the 2023 Presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi have commended the Young Progrssives Party (YPP) for forming a formidable team capable of dislodging Professor Chukwuma Soludo of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).

The loyalists comprising former commissioners and special advisers to Obi during his 8 years as Anambra State governor hailed the YPP candidate, Sir Paul Chukwuma and his running mate, Hon. Uzuegbunem Okagbue, describing them as quality and capable hands to change the face of Anambra.

Chukwuma and Okagbue have intensified the grassroots campaign with several engagements of various segments of the Anambra society, across party lines, during which they met with Obi's allies at Awka-Etiti, Idemili South LGA as well as other stakeholders at Ihiala.

Obi’s administration team members met were former Commissioner for Information, Chief Joe-Martins Uzodike,  Obi’s Chief of Staff and two terms commissioner, Prof. Stella Okunna, Commissioner for Works, Architect Callistus Ilozumba, Barr Chukwuebuka Okoli-Akirika, Dr. Ego Uzoezie, among others.

The YPP team also met with a notable community leader in Ihiala LGA, Nze Chimezie Ikebuaso, who got excited by the promise of viable leadership in Anambra State under YPP and pledged to fully work for the party's victory  in Ihiala LGA on November 8 governorship poll.

Uzodike, while addressing the YPP team, described them as a solid team that would set Anambra on the right trajectory, adding that it would be a political risk for anyone to look down at them.

With a campaign message anchored on the phrase; “Anambra Deserves Better” and followed by a message of hope that “Joy is Coming,” the YPP has set itself up as a viable opposition to APGA’s dominance of the Anambra State Governorship Election in over two decades.

Uzu Okagbue had during the meeting acknowledged the relevance of the group, who according to him, contributed to the success of their leader, Obi.

He, therefore, charged the former members of the Anambra State Executive Council to actively join in rewriting the leadership trajectory in Anambra State while they still can.
