Pharmacists storm Anambra to shape future of community healthcare

Over 5000 Community Pharmacists across the nooks and crannies of Nigeria will converge to Awka, Anambra State capital for the 44th annual international Scientific Conference tagged “Ifeadigo 2025”. The event themed “Technology integration and personalized care: the future of community pharmacy practice," will allow members of the association to network, participate in panel discussion, exhibitions and others.

Community Pharmacists are certified and licensed pharmacists working across 774 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Nigeria. With deep knowledge of medicines, drug interactions, and disease management, the community pharmacists are members of Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN),

ACPN protects rights and privileges of members operating across communities in the 774 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Nigeria. They can retail, mix, compound, handle, produce, manufacture and dispense drugs and poisons to the patients.

As affiliate of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, (PSN) and commited member of International Pharmaceutical Federation/ Community Pharmacy Section (FIP/CPS), ACPN is poised to empower members to embrace international best pharmacy practice while collaborating with other stakeholders to promote quality healthcare.

One of the ways the association do this is by holding a periodic training, conferences, workshops and seminars to keep members abrest to the modern trend in pharmaceutical practices. The 2025 edition of such programme is billed to take place from July 22nd to 27th at International Conference Centre, Awka, Anambra State.

The 44th International Scientific Conference tagged “Ifeadigo 2025” is themed “Technology integration and personalized care: the future of community pharmacy practice," will attract over five thousand members of the association all over the country to network, participate in panel discussion, exhibitions and others.

A keynote speaker at the event will be Professor Chukwuemeka Michael Ubaka of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, while governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State will be the chief host, Chairman of the opening ceremony and founder of Alpha Pharmacy, Pharmacist Ike Onyechi, as the President of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Tanko Ayuba Ibrahim will be Guest of Honour, and the National Chairman of ACPN, Pharm. Eze Ambrose Igwekamma is the host.

According to the Chairman, ACPN, Anambra State chapter, Pharm. Henry Iloh, the event will attract attendant cash inflows for the State while boosting local economy of hotels, petty traders, transporters, among others.

Iloh expressed happiness that the organisation granted the State right to host the conference after bidding for it noting that the knowledge gathered from it would sharpen their professional practices.
