AN AUTHENTIC HISTORICAL KNOWLEDGE AND AFRICAN IDENTITY CRISIS
Historical knowledge illumines reality and tells us where we come from; why we are where we are now and the possible destination of our future. Thus, lack of authentic historical knowledge makes some Africans accept the inferior position assigned to them by racists; as well as think that African identity can only be traced as far back as trans-Atlantic slave trade and colonialism.
Thus, to resolve the issues of African identity crisis it is important for them to know their past as far back as possible. This work through the method of critical thinking comes to the conclusion that authentic knowledge about Africa by Africans can restore their shatter image. We are not ruling out the activities of some Africans in the identity issues, but our main focus here is finding out if Africans deserve to be inferior because of their development setbacks.
Hence, proper knowledge of African history will help resolve the issue when we know where we got it wrong or where nature posed a major challenge to African underdevelopment. Article BY FRANCIS OBINNA ASOANYA UNIZIK, AWKA
