THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE ARAB REVOLUTION AND THE FATE OF AFRICA

The Arab world has for long lived with the cliché of docility before political authorities presumed to be empowered directly by Allah himself. This gave rise to a situation where there was no single democratic country in the whole of the Arab world.

Today, the Arab spring has opened the eyes of the world to it mis-reading of the situation. This paper argues that, desirable as the North African and Arab revolution is in a situation of oppression; such a revolution is not easily translatable to black Africans. It considers the mammoth of irrationalities that make it impossible for such a revolution to take place and argues that until such irrationalities are substantially erased, the fact of Africa, with its self-serving rulers will remain what it has been; depressing.
