Market leader identifies insecurity as cause of high cost of cow in Igbo land

The Chairman of United Butchers Association, Bridge head, Onitsha in Onitsha South local government Area of Anambra state Chief Emmanuel Chukwu has identified the reason behind the high Cost of Cow Meat in some parts of the country particularly in South eastern markets.


The Chairman made the disclosure while addressing newsmen in his office, according to him, the insecurity in some parts of northern states is the major course of high cost of caw meat. He said people can not go to northern states where these caws are grown easily for fear of being kidnapped or killed by bandits and also coupled with bad roads.


His words: To go to northern states to buy caw now is like someone embarking on a  suicide mission, we have lost many of our members on such journey, and if you are lucky to reach there, the truck drivers would charge you exorbitant due to the same insecurity and bad roads. So after you risk your life with that bad roads you find out why it is very cost mostly in Southeastern states, he stated.


Chief Chukwu appealed to the federal government as matter of urgency to checkmate the activities of the killer herdsmen, boko haram, bandits so as reduce the sufferings and killings of her citizens.


Continuing, he said the Federal government should do everything possible to save the lives of innocent citizens being kidnapped, killed on daily basis, he appealed.


The market leader also appealed to the governor of Anambra state,  Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo to come to their rescue as according to him, their slaughter house is nothing to write home about as its floor has been damaged and other parts of the market.


The market leader assured their continued support to the government of Prof Chukwuma Soludo just as he commented him on his 21/21 Victory In just concluded Anambra state governorship election
