Anambra lawmaker pledges to consolidate on late father's legacies

Hon Uche  Okonkwo the federal legislator representing idemili North and south constituency Anambra state in the house of representatives and  son of the former senator that represented Anambra central senatorial zone during the regime of president Musa yaradua who died two years ago after a brief illness has pledges to consolidate on his late father legacies of service to the people and love of humanity to maintain the already established good name of the family left by their late father.

Stating this while speaking  to newsmen during a two years memorial service organized by Okonkwo family for the  rememberance of  the late senator held at the family compound iruebenebe  village ojoto idemili south LGA Anambra state last Christmas season,Hon Okonkwo noted that his late father left a very big legacy which are difficult to match but stressed that with God on his side that he is optimistic that he would not disappoint but would rather work further to improve on the legacies which includes serving the people selflessly, improving their welfare, being the voice inof the voiceless etc.

Adding her voice, the widow of the late senator and the mother of the federal legislator,lady chinyere Okonkwo said the family will continue propergating the legacies of the late senator adding that it is in line with that, that the Okonkwo family floated a foundation which has been caring  for the poor, elderly, widows,indigents ,less privileged etc.

Also speaking in separate  interviews, senator Victor Umeh, the current senator representing anambra central senatorial zone,HRM.Augustine Emelobe the traditional ruler of oba community  a neighbouring community to ojoto,HRM Gerald Mbamalu the traditional ruler of ojoto described  the late departed senator as good leader and a man who impacted greatly on humanity and prayed for God to accept his soul in heaven.

Earlier while delivering a homily during a mass presided by Bishop Martin Uzoukwu the Catholic bishop of Minna catholic diocese Niger state, very Rev. Dr George Adimike had extolled the wonderful achievements recorded by late Senator Annie  Okonkwo in almost all sphere of life  described him as a great achiever and an icon and urged Nigeria politicians,leaders to emulate  the late senator patriotism and service to humanity especially the poor in the society.
