SIDEC Urges Newly Registered Voters in Anambra to Collect Their PVCs

The Social and Integral Development Centre, (SIDEC), has urged all eligible voters in Anambra State who recently registered or transferred their polling units to urgently collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) begins a five-day distribution exercise across the state.

The exercise, which commenced on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, afford new registrants who participated in the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) or applied for transfers to new polling units, the opportunity to cast their votes for candidates of their choice.

According to INEC, a total of 146,353 valid new registrants and transfer applicants were recorded in Anambra during the last CVR, bringing the state’s total number of registered voters to 2,802,790 ahead of the November 8 governorship election.

The Executive Director, SIDEC, Ugochi Agalaba-Ehiahuruike, who stated this in a statement, explained that PVC is the only instrument that grants citizens power to exercise their democratic right to vote.

" Without collecting their PVCs, many citizens—especially youths, women, and persons with disabilities—risk being disenfranchised in the forthcoming election. Collecting your PVC is the first step toward shaping the leadership and future you desire. Let no one trade this opportunity for apathy or indifference," she added.

According to her, this exercise by INEC  is strictly in-person, and cards will not be collected by proxy so those involved should verify that their cards contain the correct polling unit details, particularly for those who applied for transfers.

"Through Project IMPACT, SIDEC continues to mobilize citizens toward active and peaceful participation in the electoral process, while combating disinformation, voter apathy, and vote buying in Anambra State. SIDEC remains committed to strengthening citizens’ voices and promoting credible, inclusive, and transparent elections through sustained civic education and collaboration with stakeholders, including the media, civil society, and INEC. Project IMPACT is being implemented by SIDEC in partnership with the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room with funding support from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO)," it added.
