Okpoko Residents Endorse Soludo For Second Tenure

As Anambra governorahip election nears, Okpoko community in Ogbaru local government area of Anambra State has endorsed the second term aspiration of Governor Charles Soludo.

The community made the commitment on Friday, October 24, 2025, during a campaign rally held at St. Luwanga Catholic Church, Okpoko.

Speaking during the event, the member representing Ogbaru 1 State Constituency in the state assembly, Hon. Nobel Igwe, thanked the governor for fulfilling the campaign promises he made to Okpoko people in his first tenure, and assured him of another massive support come November 8, 2025.

He said, "The good people of Okpoko - all of us that belong to Ogbaru 1 State Constituency, shall surprise Governor Soludo come November 8 governorship election, because, he surprised us with massive infrastructural projects."

The President General of Okpoko community, Sir Charles Ezeokafor, also assured of the people's support for Soludo.

Ezeokafor said, "We're happy to announce that Okpoko is proudly behind Soludo because of the development he brought to our community. He gave us good roads, pipe borne water, free education, free medical care in hospitals, among other things. We have very big population, and with our number, we shall deliver him resoundingly for another term, so that he will consolidate on his numerous achievements."

Fruits and vegetables traders in Okpoko, who participated in the rally also threw in their own support. 

Chairman  of Fruits and Vegetables Market, Okpoko, Mr. Paul Okafor, assured Soludo of unalloyed support of his traders.

According to him, "Our voter cards are intact for Soludo. We shall support him, and we believe that when he returns, he would give our market a facelift, as he promised us."

Resident Landlords Association, Okpoko Community, also assured Soludo of their unalloyed solidarity and support.

Chairman of the association, Chief Ikechukwu Lawrence Ogbuechi, noted that Soludo changed their name from Okpoko to New Heaven, by reason of humongous infrastructural transformation he brought to the community.

He said, "Before now, Okpoko has no single motorable road network. Today, Soludo has given us many tarred roads with drainages on both sides. Pipe borne water is reticulated in every household, and our people enjoy free water supply. Our children enjoy free education, and our women give birth in government hospitals without paying a dime. Our only demand is that INEC should supply materials early enough that will enable us demonstrate our love for the governor."

 Nze Na Ozo Okpoko, the traditional council of Okpoko community also endorsed the governor's second term aspiration. 

The trio of Chief Anthony Ozo Arinze, Chairman; Chief (Sir) Patrick Emefo, Patron; and Nze Innocent Ogbuji, Secretary; spoke highly of the governor - assuring of the community's unalloyed solidarity; while highlighting the governor's numerous works in Okpoko, such as turning Okpoko into Dubai-Taiwan of sort. They maintained that there is no good and conscience man or woman in Okpoko that will not support Soludo's re-election bid.

Earlier during the rally, Governor Soludo promised that any polling unit within every ward that gives the ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) the highest number of votes, would be given the sum of one million naira; while any ward within every LGA that gives APGA highest number of votes will get five million naira.

He said also that any local government area in the state that gives the ruling party highest number of votes will be rewarded with the sum of ten million naira.

Soludo told his audience to take him by his words, saying that he is not the usual politician that makes a promise without fulfilling it.

He recalled that during his governorship campaign for the state's governorship in 2021, he promised that if Okpoko people would support him, he would turn the community from a slump to a modern city; and noted that Okpoko was the first place he visited after his victory, and flag off road
