Chinese national in police net over alleged illegal mining in Anambra

Anambra State police command, on Saturday, announced arrest of a Chinese National, Mr Mu Hua Qiang, allegedly engaging in illegal mining within Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government (LGA).
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, who disclosed this in a statement, explained that the suspect was arrested by Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA brigade).
According to Ikenga, the suspect has been handed over to the Command's Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) while investigation continues before the public would be communicated.
"The Anambra State Police Command, through its operatives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, on the evening of 22nd August 2025, received a suspected illegal Chinese miner from operatives of the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA Brigade).
"The suspect, identified as Mu Hua Qiang, 45 years old, a resident of Aguleri, was arrested for his alleged involvement in illegal mining operations within the Aguleri axis. His statement has been voluntarily obtained, and he has been placed in lawful custody for further investigation. Futher developments will be communicated in due course," he stated.
