One wounded, as gunmen attack Vigilante office, set vehicles ablaze in Anambra

At least one member of Agunaechemba vigilante was wounded as gunmen attacked security office and set five operational vehicles on fire at Umunze, Orumba South Local Government Area (LGA), Anambra State.
The hoodlums, it was learnt, launched an attack at the security facility around 6am and Officer wounded was among those who exchanged fire with them while trying to stop them.
A source claimed that they were five number and came in with a private saloon car, launched the attack and drove off immediately.
The Anambra State Police command have confirmed the incident in a statement authored by the Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Tochukwu Ikenga.
Ikenga, while describing the incident as an unfortunate, noting that a joint security force had already taken over the scene while seeking collaboration of all to unravel those behind the incident.
"It happened in the early hours of today 5th June, 2025 where the suspected armed men attacked the vigilante's office at Umunze and set five of their operational vehicles ablaze. The Security Operatives in an attempt to resist the gunmen during the gun duel recorded a fatal injury on one of the Security Operatives.
"Some part of the security office also got burnt by the hoodlums. Given the above, the Police-led Joint Security Force has taken over the scene and seeks the collaborative efforts of the local communities on the ongoing onslaught operations in the area to ensure that those responsible for the attack are held accountable," he added.
